- Pedraza-Benítez, María del Carmen
We have examined the effect of an acute stress in the proteomic profile of hypothalamus. For this purpose, to extract information from proteomic profiles (1 and 24 hours post-acute stress) a Quadrupole-Orbitrap mass spectrometry (Q-Orbitrap-MS) was used for the massive identification and quantification of hypothalamic proteins. After collecting the raw data extracted from this technique, for each proteomic profile, a functional enrichment study was performed. Firstly, the significantly overexpressed and underexpressed hypothalamic proteins of the right hemisphere of experimental groups with their respective controls (stress/control) were selected. Then, using STRING, the number of interactors was increased to 100 for both over- and under-expressed proteins. Furthermore, MCODE was used as a clustering tool for the protein‒protein interaction network obtained from STRING. After that, a functional enrichment analysis was performed using DAVID by introducing each protein gene name grouped into the clusters from the previous step. Biological processes in each protein clustering were determined as well as the function it is involved in. Finally, a network analysis of the GO terms obtained from DAVID was performed so that it was easier to interpret and integrate the biological implications of the results. Data were validate by using a western blot analysis. In the end, the main conclusion was that this short-term stressor altered the protein profile of the hypothalamus, changing the protein abundance after 1 hour or 24 hours of stress application., - Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación – Plan Nacional I+D+I from Spain (PID2020-117464RB-I00) to CP and MP-M;

DATASET RISK PERCEPTION SCALE HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS.
- Badía-Gómez, María Carmen

- Miranda-Páez, Jesús
Risk perception is a cognitive process that relies on each person's information, about different issues such as contexts, other people, objects, and which is processed immediately, organising a judgement or value that will condition their behaviour. The aim of this study is to carry out an exhaustive analysis of the psychometric properties of the COVID-19 Pandemic Risk Perception Scale (PRPS). The sample was 405 healthcare professionals ranged between 22 and 65 years, belonging to the hospital emergency services and the critical care unit in southern Spain. A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out. In order to obtain evidence of validity based on the internal structure of PRPS, we conducted a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). A reliability analysis was performed, calculating the McDonald’s omega coefficient (ω), and an item analysis was also performed, calculating the corrected item-total correlation coefficient. Finally, evidence of validity based on the relationship with other variables was obtained. The results of the CFA supported a unidimensional structure of the PRPS. The reliability of the test scores was .95. Evidence of validity was provided by a positive correlation between the PRPS score and the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), and by a negative correlation between the PRPS score and the reduced version of the Spanish adaptation of the Psychological Well-Being Scale (PWBS). The results indicate that the Pandemic Risk Perception Scale (PRPS) has shown adequate psychometric properties, which makes it a useful instrument in the context of health professionals, postulated as an easy and brief tool to complete., Sin financiación.

Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) is a highly prevalent psychiatric and represents a significant public health challenge. Naltrexone (NTX), a mu-opioid receptor antagonist widely used for AUD treatment, has limited efficacy due to side effects and variability in patient response. Interactions between the full-length GAL molecule and the opioid system have been demonstrated. In our recent studies, we showed that the Galanin (1− 15) fragment [GAL (1− 15)] decreased alcohol seeking along with alcohol consumption. This study aims to examine the effects of GAL(1− 15)+NTX on alcohol-seeking behavior and alcohol consumption, as well as the involvement of the mesolimbic system. In rats, we assessed GAL(1− 15)+NTX in reward-seeking and the role of GALR2 using the antagonist M871 in the self-administration test. In addition, GAL(1− 15)+NTX effects were studied on voluntary alcohol using the two-bottle choice paradigm. Locomotor activity and stereotyped behaviors, along with dopa- mine release in the dorsal striatum following alcohol injections, were assessed. Moreover, we have analyzed the transcriptional changes of C-Fos, MOR, POMPC, and dopamine receptors in the ventral tegmental area, nucleus accumbens and the hypothalamus. GAL(1− 15)+NTX combination reduced alcohol seeking in self-administration and two-bottle choice consumption, with GALR2 involved in the effect. In addition, GAL(1− 15)+NTX attenuated alcohol-induced locomotor activity and stereotyped behaviors linked to reduced dopamine release in the dorsal striatum. Notably, these effects were associated with C-Fos, MOR, and dopamine receptor changes, suggesting that the mesolimbic pathway, including the opioid system, is involved in GAL(1− 15)+NTX effects. These results open up the possibility of using GAL(1− 15) with NTX as a novel strategy in AUD., This work was supported by grants awarded by Ministerio de Sanidad del gobierno de España, Delegación del Gobierno para el Plan Nacional sobre Drogas, Fondos de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia (PRTR) Unión Europea EXP2022/008766, by Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación del gobierno de España PID2020–114392RB-I00/AEI/10.13039/501100011033, and by Universidad de Málaga PPRO-B4–2024–010.

DATASET FOR: HOW DOES EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE HELP TEACHERS TO STAY ENGAGED? CROSS-VALIDATION OF A MODERATED MEDIATION MODEL.

This study used job demands–resources and emotional intelligence theories to test a moderated mediation model explaining work engagement in two independent teacher samples. We hypothesised that emotional intelligence buffers the effect of emotional demands on work engagement through self-appraised stress. Childhood and primary educators (sample 1, N=351) and secondary educators (sample 2, N=344) participated in the study. Although emotional intelligence did not moderate the relationship between emotional demands and self-ap- praised stress, it did buffer the relationship between self-appraised stress and work engagement in both teacher samples. The findings suggest that emotional intelligence has a specific buffering effect affecting intrapersonal and interpersonal processes. We discuss the implications of these findings for efforts to help teachers deal with the detrimental effects of stress on work engagement., Ayuda predoctoral del Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte (FPU16/02238)

DATASET FOR: TEXTURE DETECTION WITH FEATURE EXTRACTION ON EMBEDDED FPGA
- Lora Rivera, Raúl
- Oballe-Peinado, Óscar
- Vidal-Verdú, Fernando
PID2021-125091OB-I00, A feature extraction algorithm for texture detection oriented to its implementation on embedded electronics based on a Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is proposed in this paper.
Local pre-processing with smart tactile sensors can help to improve dexterity in artificial hands. Simplicity is the goal in order to achieve a hardware-friendly strategy that can be replicated and integrated with another circuitry. This is interesting, considering that tactile sensors are arrays and FPGAs are capable of parallel execution. The proposal was tested with a custom smart tactile sensor mounted on a Cartesian robot to explore different textures. A comparison with a common feature extraction approach based on the fast Fourier Transform (FFT)
computation was also made. In addition, the whole procedure is implemented on a System on Chip (SoC) with the feature extraction on the embedded FPGA and a k-means classifier on an ARM core. The proposed algorithm obtains the spatial frequency components of the tactile signal but not their power. Therefore, some information is lost with respect to that provided by the FFT. Nevertheless, an 89.17% accuracy of the proposed algorithm is obtained versus 91.4% with the FFT when twelve different textures are considered, including complex and fabric textures. There is a noticeable saving in power and hardware resources. In addition, since the size of the feature vector is much smaller, data traffic and memory usage is much lower, and the classifier can be simpler., Spanish Government with a Formación de Profesorado Universitario (FPU) Grant given by the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades, European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Program Funds
