This study tested five EPF-based products on C. orchidii pupae. The products included: Velifer OD, containing Beauveria bassiana PPRI 5339 strain (H9); Botanigard 22WP (H5) and Botanigard OD (H6), both manufactured by Certis Belchim and containing the fungal strain B. bassiana GHA; Mycotal WP (H1) made with Akanthomyces muscarius Ve6 from Koppert; and an experimental OD formulation containing the strain B. bassiana 203 from Symborg (GBexp). Botanigard OD was selected for further testing; concentrations ranging from 1 × 10 5 to 1 × 10 8 UFC/ml were applied by immersion to C. orchidii. Additionally, 1 × 10 7 and 1 × 10 8 UFC/g concentrations were applied to the soil were C. orchidii pupated to further assess the virulence of this product. In an additional experiment, pupation depth of C. orchidii was assessed to determine the best field application method. In the field assay, C. orchidii adults and larvae were observed in fruit in contact with each other during the summer of 2022. The latter was used to determine the efficacy of the EPF treatment., In this dataset there is information on the pathogenicity of five entomopathogenic fungi (EPF) based products on Chaetanaphothrips orchidii pupae. Additionally, it includes data on the virulence of one of the products, tested by immersion and soil application. The number of pupating thrips found at different soil depths is also reported to improve the efficacy of a field application of an EPF product. Finally, C. orchidii abundance in a commercial sweet orange field where this EPF product was applied is also presented.
