Dades primàries associades a l'article publicat a PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, vol. 10, num. 10, p. e0005009 [http://dx.doi.org/10.1371/journal.pntd.0005009], P. vivax infection during pregnancy has been associated with poor outcomes such as anemia, low birth weight and congenital malaria, thus representing an important global health problem. However, no vaccine is currently available for its prevention. Vir genes were the first putative virulent factors associated with P. vivax infections, yet very few studies have examined their potential role as targets of immunity. We investigated the immunogenic properties of five VIR proteins and two long synthetic peptides containing conserved VIR sequences (PvLP1 and PvLP2) in the context of the PregVax cohort study including women from five malaria endemic countries: Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala, India and Papua New Guinea (PNG) at different timepoints during and after pregnancy. Antibody responses against all antigens were detected in all populations, with PNG women presenting the highest levels overall. P. vivax infection at sample collection time was positively associated with antibody levels against PvLP1 (fold-increase: 1.60 at recruitment -first antenatal visit-) and PvLP2 (fold-increase: 1.63 at delivery), and P. falciparum co-infection was found to increase those responses (for PvLP1 at recruitment, fold-increase: 2.25). Levels of IgG against two VIR proteins at delivery were associated with higher birth weight (27 g increase per duplicating antibody levels, p<0.5). Peripheral blood mononuclear cells from PNG uninfected pregnant women had significantly higher antigen-specific IFN-g TH1 responses (p=0.006) and secreted less pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF and IL-6 after PvLP2 stimulation than P. vivax-infected women (p<0.5). These data demonstrate that VIR antigens induce the natural acquisition of antibody and T cell memory responses that might be important in immunity to P. vivax during pregnancy in very diverse geographical settings.

BURDEN AND IMPACT OF PLASMODIUM VIVAX IN PREGNANCY: A MULTI-CENTRE PROSPECTIVE OBSERVATIONAL STUDY (RAW DATA)

  • PregVax Study Group
Dades primàries associades l'article publicat a PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, vol. 11, num. 6, p. e0005606 [https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pntd.0005606], P. vivax is a major parasite responsible for malaria in humans. While it is well known that pregnant women have an increased risk of P. falciparum infection and disease, less is known on the epidemiology and the impact of P. vivax in pregnancy. We conducted a health-facility based observational study in pregnant women from five endemic countries aimed to determine the burden of P. vivax infection in pregnancy and its impact on the mother and the newborn. We found that the prevalence of P. vivax malaria in pregnant women was overall low across sites, however submicroscopic infections were significantly higher in some areas. Pregnant women with clinical malaria experienced an increased risk of anaemia, which may have an impact on infant health. The results of this study can be useful to guide maternal health programs in settings where vivax malaria is endemic, and they highlight the importance to address a special population such as pregnant women while embracing malaria elimination in endemic countries.

Full protocol can be found in Spanish in the following link: http://hdl.handle.net/2445/117927 Or in Catalan, here: http://hdl.handle.net/2445/117926, Raw data from the study “School staff members knowledge of victimization, detection and reporting”. The study is centered in analyzing the level of knowledge of school staff members of Barcelona city of victimization, its detection and its reporting. Knowledge in this areas is measured through thirty statements to classify as true or false. The statements are coded as follows: F1 to F10: Statements about victimization F11 to F20: Statements about detection F21 to F30: Statements about reporting Correctly classified statements are coded with “1” and wrongly classified or unknown statements were coded as “0”. The data also includes variables of interest, such as self-perceived efficacy to detect sign in minors (“Scm”), self-perceived efficacy to detect signs in families (“Scf”), if the participant ever had a suspicions that a child under their care might be being victimized (“Detec”) and if the participant ever reported a potential victimization case outside the school (“Repor”). All these variables are coded as “1” if they were answered positively and “0” if they were answered negatively. The dataset also includes demographic variables, coded as follows: Sex (“Sex”): “0” mean “female” and “1” mean “male”. Role in school (“Role”): The first category (“0”) referred school staff who spent four hours or more in charge of the same group of children or adolescents, mainly kindergarten and elementary school teachers. The second category (“1”) included school staff members who spent less than four hours per day with the same group of students, like teachers of specific courses such as art, music, physical education, lunchtime or playground monitors. The last category (“2”) comprised staff such as head teachers, special education teachers or school psychologists who were not in charge of groups of children or adolescents but encountered them individually. School level in which the participant was working (“Level”): First category (“0”) included staff working in kindergarten or elementary school, second category (“1”) grouped staff working in middle or high school and the third category (“2”) referred to staff working in both levels. Results showed lower levels of knowledge in the reporting sections and significant relationship with detection and reporting experiences.

There are twenty zip files each one corresponding to a participant. The acronym PT stands for patients (from 01 to 10) and HC stands for healthy controls (from 01 to 10). Once unzipped, structural and functional data of each patient and healthy control are located in the folder indicated by the specific acronym and number of the participant (i.e. PT01). Thus, each folder contains the original functional data of the resting state sequence (fmri.nii.gz), the preprocessed functional data (fmri_res.nii.gz), the original structural T1-weighted image (T1.nii.gz) and the structural T1-weighted image after applying the brain extraction with the Brain Extraction Tool of fsl (T1_brain.nii.gz) and used to perform the co-registration with the functional data. All images are in NIfTI (Neuroimaging Computer Technology Initiative) format, as a gzip compressed file, normally used by different software as the software library FMRIB (FSL). We also provide the NIfTI file of the AAL Atlas used to parcellate the brain during the analysis (AAL_Contract_90_3MM.nii) and the corresponding text file indicating the list of regions composing the atlas (AAL_LabelID_90.txt)., Podeu consultar el document publicat a: http://hdl.handle.net/2445/161359, Dades primàries associades a un article publicat a la revista PLoS One, 2020, vol. 15, num. 1, p. e0226816 [https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0226816], We tested 10 hemianopic patients and 10 healthy participants.

El podeu consultar a http://hdl.handle.net/2445/143358, Data base containing SPME-GC-MS raw analytical data obtained and used by Quintanilla-Casas et al. (Food Chemistry, 2020, 125556). Data correspond to 82 authentic and traceable olive oil samples, declared as EVOO by the suppliers obtained in the framework of OLEUM project (EC H2020 Programme 2014–2020) from seven different EU and non-EU countries: Croatia (n=11); Slovenia (SVN) (n=8); Spain (ESP) (n=17); Italy (ITA) (n=15); Greece (GRC) (n=6); Morocco (MAR) (n=15) and Turkey (TUR) (n=10). With the aim of reflecting the real production scenario, EVOO samples in this prospective study were obtained under usual production practices for commercial purposes, and thus consisted of both monovarietal oils as well as market blends of olive cultivars typical of each geographical origin. Briefly, data correspond to SPME-GC-MS scan intensities of the specific sesquiterpene hydrocarbon (SH) ions (m/z 93, 107, 119, 135, 157, 159, 161, 189 and 204) obtained from the Total Ion Current (TIC) between the 18th to the 30th minute. Thus, 2467 scans were obtained for each m/z ion implying 22203 variables per sample., SPME-GC-MS data have been obtained by researchers in the OLEUM project This work was developed in the context of the project OLEUM “Advanced solutions for assuring authenticity and quality of olive oil at global scale”, funded by the European Commission within the Horizon 2020 Program (2014–2020, grant agreement no. 635690). Dades primàries associades a un article publicat a la revista PeerJ disponible a l'adreça http://dx.doi.org/10.7717/peerj.2725, Podeu consultar l'article a: http://hdl.handle.net/2445/104686, Background. White adipose tissue (WAT) is a complex, diffuse, multifunctional organ which contains adipocytes, and a large proportion of fat, but also other cell types, active in defence, regeneration and signalling functions. Studies with adipocytes often require their isolation from WAT by breaking up the matrix of collagen fibres, however, it is unclear to what extent adipocyte number in primary cultures correlates with their number in intact WAT, since recovery and viability are often unknown. Experimental design. Epididymal WAT of 4-6 young adult rats was used to isolate adipocytes with collagenase. Careful recording of lipid content of tissue, and all fraction volumes and weights, allowed us to trace the amount of initial WAT fat remaining in the cell preparation. Functionality was estimated by incubation with glucose and measurement of lactate, glycerol and NEFA production. Non-adipocyte cells were also recovered and their sizes (and those of adipocytes) were also measured. The presence of non-nucleated cells (erythrocytes) was also estimated. Results. Cell numbers and sizes were correlated from all fractions to intact WAT. Tracing the lipid content, the recovery of adipocytes in the final, metabolically active, preparation was in the range of 70-75%. Adipocytes were 7%, erythrocytes 68% and other stromal (nucleated cells) 24% of total WAT cells. However, their overall volumes were, 91%, 0.05%, and 0.2% of WAT. Non-fat volume of adipocytes was 2.5% of WAT. Conclusions. The methodology presented here allows for a direct quantitative reference to the original tissue of studies using isolated cells. We have found, also, that the "live cell mass" of adipose tissue is very small (about 25 µL/g for adipocytes and 2 µL/g stromal, plus about 1 µL/g blood). This fact, translates (with respect to the actual "live cytoplasm" size) into an extremely high metabolic activity, which make WAT an even more significant agent in the control of energy metabolism.

A partir d'aquesta Base de Dades, s'ha dissenyat una aplicació web que facilita al professional sanitari la presa de decisions per a l'ajust de dosis de medicaments en funció del filtrat glomerular del pacient.
