[EN]Considering the increasing demand for sustainable aquafeeds, the present study aimed to evaluate the potential of dietary fishmeal inclusion in diets for Liza aurata with alternative protein sources of animal, plant, and unicellular origin. Four experimental diets were formulated with varying levels of fishmeal inclusion (FM15, FM10, FM5, and FM0, representing 15%, 10%, 5%, and 0% fishmeal, respectively) to assess their effects on growth performance, body composition, and economic viability in juvenile Liza aurata (9.14 ± 1.52 g). After three months, there were no significant differences in the survival rates or growth parameters among diets. Nonetheless, fish fed diet without fishmeal showed the lowest condition factor and mesenteric fat. The results on body composition indicated similarities among treatments in terms of amino acid and fatty acid profiles. Fish fed the diet without fishmeal obtained the lowest values of the Fish in–Fish out ratio for fishmeal (FIFO FM), the Marine protein dependency ratio (MPDR), and the Marine oil dependency ratio (MODR). Finally, polynomial regressions demonstrated a negative trend in some indices as fishmeal content was reduced. In conclusion, the findings suggest that while Liza aurata can be reared on low level of dietary fishmeal, but a minimum inclusion level of 9% fishmeal is needed to maintain optimal growth, filet quality, and the economic profitability., Funding for open access charge: Universitat Politècnica de València.

The aim of iCAREPLAST project is to provide a cost and energy-efficient alternative to recycle and valorise non-recycled plastic waste (ca. 70% of European plastic waste) that, due to their characteristics or their contamination, are currently disposed into landfills (27%) or underexploited through energy recovery (42%). iCAREPLAST project, summarized in Fig.1, combines pyrolysis, catalytic treatment and membrane separation technologies to obtain high added-value chemicals, as they are (alkyl-)aromatics (BTXs and medium to long-chain alkyl-aromatics), that can be used to produce virgin-quality polymers or as raw materials for other processes in petrochemicals, fine chemicals and surfactants industries. As in other production processes, process control represents a key issue in the efficient operation of the proposed plant. WP5: “Plant modelling, control and optimization” will try to apply some state-of-art control and optimization techniques with the purpose of manage the iCAREPLAST process as a whole, taking into account several key information related to yields, energy use, sustainability indicators, etc. to drive the process towards its optimum operating point. In iCAREPLAST project, several approaches of process model simulations are considered. The first one is known as steady-state simulation, where iCAREPLAST partners can model different scenarios by handling with design parameters. This type of simulation is typically done during the conceptual phase of a project in an effort to gain a better understanding of how a design can be altered to get the most out of the process from both a business standpoint and an engineering perspective. The datasets presented belongs to this kind of simulations where a steady-state model has been developed in Aspen Plus and several sensitivity analysis has been performed. The datasets comprises raw data from steady-state model simulations performed using Aspen Plus Software. Each dataset corresponds with each unit or subprocess belonging to the entire iCARPLAST process.

[EN] This article presents a theoretical and experimental analysis of the millimeter wave (mmW) signal gain observed in photonically generated signals by using carrier suppressed (CS) external modulation in a centralized network architecture while the data is transmitted over a directly modulated laser (DML) operating under different signal regimes. Measurements of the frequency response under small and large signal regimes are presented for the sake of comparison. Moreover, the mmW signal gain has been measured for different standard single mode fiber (SSMF) lengths in order to identify the conditions and impact of large signal regime operation. The results are also validated by the experimental transmission of a 25 MHz QPSK signal transmitted over 40 GHz since the error-vector-magnitude (EVM) is measured for different input electrical power values as well as several received optical power (RoP) levels. Moreover, the spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) ratio is measured to compare the third-order intermodulation distortion (IMD3) between small and large signal regime. The quantitative results demonstrate that proper system conditions allow the exploitation of the mmW signal gain towards the future deployment of high energy efficient networks.

[EN] Phosphor-coated white LEDs have become the predominant lighting technology thanks to their energy efficiency. In recent years, interest in visible light communications (VLC) technology has grown to take advantage of the massive deployment of these lighting LEDs for data transmission. In this context, these LEDs have two major limitations: limited modulation bandwidth and nonlinear behavior. Extending signal modulation beyond these limitations is crucial for achieving the transmission rates necessary to make this technology competitive. To support the further development of these systems, this paper introduces an integrated model that merges dynamic nonlinear and linear system approaches to simulate accurately data transmission with LEDs. It combines a dynamic nonlinear model, which captures complex behaviors under high-speed modulation, with a linear model for high luminous flux LEDs. Experimental validation confirms the precision of the model, with less than 5\% error in predicting power spectrum and throughput using OFDM signaling, highlighting its utility for designing VLC systems that utilize LEDs for both illumination and data transmission.

Having two or more interlinking converters connected in parallel in hybrid microgrids with AC and DC buses has some benefits, like modularity, flexibility, and redundancy. However, the parallelization of the inverters leads to circulating currents that can cause system malfunctions. This work uses a method for suppressing low-frequency circulating currents in interlinking converters by controlling the zero-sequence component of the phase currents, showing that the control structure is valid for interlinking converters. The proposed control scheme has been applied to two parallel interlinking inverters of 5 kW and 2.5 kW, respectively. The interlinking inverters are connected to the grid, and they control the voltage in the DC bus of the hybrid microgrid. To validate the concept, simulation and experimental results are shown.
