Dataset, This initial database was developed in a study of 403 patients who underwent major pulmonary resections in the Salamanca University Hospital from 1994 to 2016. We have taken patients with known survival status and a surgical procedure other than pneumonectomy. The variables used in our study are: (1) Age of patient; (2) Body mass index (abbr. BMI, expressed in kg/m^2); (3) Existence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (abbr. COPD); (4) Forced vital capacity calculated percentage (abbr. FEV1%); (5) Approach of the surgery (thoracotomy or video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery, VATS); and (6) Presence of complications in the surgery. The variable of mortality allows us to establish the survival of the patient. Age is obtained from the date of birth and the date of surgery. Body mass index is calculated based on the weight and size of the patient., The variables used in our study are: (1) Age of patient; (2) Body mass index (abbr. [EN]The dataset includes seven Supplementary Figure Legends about the exchange factor Rgf1p is involved in the repair of DNA double-strand breaks induced by Phl treatment. In S. pombe, the DNA damage checkpoint is activated by Rad3p (ATR homolog), which in turn activates its downstream protein kinase, Chk1p (67). The rgf1Δ cells are sensitive to CPT and highly sensitive to Phl, both drugs trigger a strong checkpoint response., CICYT, Spain [BFU2011-24683/BMC]; Junta de Castilla y León [SA073U14]. [EN] Nitroso-compounds are potentially mutagenic and carcinogenic compounds due to their ability to alkylate DNA bases. One of the most common sources of human exposure to nitroso-compounds is their formation in the acidic environment of the stomach by the reaction between electron-rich molecules present in the lumen and sodium nitrite ingested in the diet. To date, the formation of nitroso-compounds by the reaction of nitrite with food components has been investigated in depth, but little attention has been paid to substances secreted in the stomach, such as dopamine or serotonin, whose reaction products with nitrite have proven mutagenic properties. In this article we present a kinetic study with UV-visible spectroscopy of the nitrosation reactions of both molecules, as well as of L-tyrosine, the amino-acid precursor of dopamine. As a result, we have determined their reaction mechanisms, which show that in all of them the favoured reaction product is a stable nitroso-compound and that the molecule whose product is the most mutagenic, serotonin, undergoes two consecutive nitrosation reactions. These findings suggest that more research is needed to understand how this reaction alters the function of these neurotransmitters as well as the potential toxic effects they may have once nitrosated., a) Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad and the European Regional Development Fund. b) Universidad de Salamanca. ALTERNATIVAS EN LA GESTIÓN DE LA RECOGIDA SEPARADA DE LA FRACCIÓN ORGÁNICA BIODEGRADABLE DE LOS RESIDUOS SÓLIDOS URBANOS

  • Franco González, Jerónimo
  • Gallardo Izquierdo, Antonio
  • CARLOS, MAR

CONSTRUCTION OF SCALE MODELS IN INDUSTRIAL DESIGN: THE IRRUPTION OF ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING. RUBRICS PROPOSAL FOR AN OBJECTIVE EVALUATION

  • Felip, Francisco
  • Gual, Jaume
Comunicació presentada a EDULEARN2019, 11th International Conference on Education and New Learning Technologies (July 1-3, 2019, Palma, Mallorca, Spain)., Recent studies corroborate the progressive implementation of Additive Manufacturing technologies (commonly known as 3D printing) in education, demonstrating several advantages. In the field of industrial design, the development of models during the design phase of product design helps designers in training to visualize their proposals. Today, 3D printing and traditional model-making techniques coexist in classrooms. With both techniques it is possible to achieve good results, but when it comes to evaluating them it is not so simple, since both ways of working are different and apparently the same evaluation criteria cannot be used in both cases, which could lead to comparative grievances. This work presents a series of rubrics that can help to evaluate the student's models in an objective way and under equal conditions, independently of the technique used: traditional o 3D printing. In order to do this, we started from a rubric made to evaluate traditional models, which was tested during a couple of academic years in other subject. This rubric was adapted to create a new rubric, which allowed to evaluate models made by 3D printing, looking for equivalent criteria with the previous rubric to guarantee a fair evaluation of both ways of working. The rubrics were tested experimentally in the subject ‘Prototypes: experimental workshop’, taught during the 4th year of the Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design and Product Development Engineering at the Universitat Jaume I (Spain). Two groups of users assessed each work using these rubrics. The results showed, on the one hand, that both groups found it easy to evaluate the works using these rubrics, and on the other hand, that these rubrics allow for a fairly objective evaluation of the works, since the score obtained by both groups of users was very similar.
