MATER-3_LEG1 Cruise (29HE19990906) carried out on the Research Vessel Hespérides in 1999, Mass Transfer and Ecosystem Response. Mass Transfer and Ecosystem Response. Through extensive experimental work and physical and ecological modeling, MATER addresses the comprehensive study of the Mediterranean with the following global objectives: 1) Study and quantify the processes that trigger and control the transference of mass and energy between the various compartments of the Mediterranean system , and in different environments. 2) Evaluate the temporal and spatial scales of the phenomena in certain structures and regions of the Mediterranean. 3) Investigate the response of the ecosystem to these transfers and their evolution over time
