RECOMARES Cruise (29GD20200302) carried out on the Research Vessel García del Cid in 2020, Reconstruction of deep-sea communities in Iberian Continental Margins in the last decades / centuries- RECOMARES.Sampling will be carried out in a area between Barcelona, ​​N of Mallorca and Columbretes Islands, with a further sampling Intense in the transect between Barcelona and the N of Mallorca (Sóller). On this area will be collected sediments for chronoecology analysis (OBJ1), biological samplings of demersal megafauna (fish and large invertebrates) and zooplankton (OBJ2) and will be taken on each station hydrographic data (with CTDs)

RADMED-ESMARES-0620 Cruise (29GD20200623) carried out on the Research Vessel García del Cid in 2020, The RADMED-ESMARES-0620 project has as its general objective the multidisciplinary monitoring of shelf waters and continental slope of the Spanish Mediterranean, including both the peninsular coastline as the Balearic Islands. The variables to follow are physical, chemical and biological, thereby seeking to study hydrographic conditions, communities planktonic, the seasonal cycles of these variables and their interannual variability. This Tracking allows us to implement our data banks, generate time series, establish ocean climatologies, study oscillations, trends, anomalies and their relationship with global warming and climate change. With these data we have accurate information of the marine environment, being able to advise administrations on the correct management of the effects of climate change

POWELL-2020 CRUISE, RV HESPÉRIDES

POWELL-2020 Cruise (29HE20200109) carried out on the Research Vessel Hespérides in 2020, The main goal of the POWELL: Is targets the Powell Basin and the South Orkney Microcontinent (SOM) where there is very little information. However, to understand their deep structure is key in the development of the southern Scotia oceanic basins. The proposed cruise includes collection of data to be related with ODP site 696, which is studies in the frame of TASDRACC project. Site 696 will allow to better understand the timing of the events recorded in the seismic profiles and the seismic data will allow us to extend regionally the results obtained from site 696, to the SOM, the Powell Basin and the southern continental margin of the Drake Passage. In this cruise we are expecting to collect: 1) EM122 multi beam bathymetry data; 2) parametric echo-sounder (TOPAS) profiles, 3) multichannel seismic reflection profiles, 4) magnetic data, 5) gravimetric data, 6) gravity cores, and 7) CTDs

BRAVOSEIS-3 CRUISE, RV HESPÉRIDES

BRAVOSEIS-3 Cruise (29HE20200207) carried out on the Research Vessel Hespérides in 2020, The BRAVOSEIS project investigates the geodynamic environment, structure and dynamics of submarine volcanoes in the Bransfield Strait, Antarctica. It is based on the analysis of tectonic and volcanic earthquakes recorded by a dense, amphybious seismic network composed of broadband seismometers, OBS, and hydrophones, deployed between 2018 and 2020. Aditionally, we perform marine seismology and geophysics profiles across the rift and main volcanic zones. The recorded data will be analyzed using state of the art techniques to understand the crustal structure and tectonic regime in the South Shetland Islands region and elucidate among competing theories, to image the location and extent of magmatic reservoirs, and to address the current activity of submarine volcanic centers along the Bransfield Rift

RESNEP-2_LEG2 CRUISE, RV SARMIENTO DE GAMBOA

RESNEP-2_LEG2 Cruise (29SG20200201) carried out on the Research Vessel Sarmiento de Gamboa in 2020, The main goal of the RESNEP scientific project is to study the use of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) as a tool for the recovery of the marine popultion of species of fishery interest. The target species is the Norway lobster, Nephrops norvegicus, an iconic fishery along the Spanish Mediterranean coast but at present with populations in overexploited status. The oceanographic cruise RESNEP 2 is on board the R/V Sarmiento de Gamboa. The main oceanographic operations are ROV dive and the use of traps for the biomass evaluation of the Norway lobster. The studied MPA (or no-take fishery zone) was established in September of 2017 so this oceanographic cruise is doing its research 2 years after the regular fishery activity was banned
