File "table1.dat" contains the CIG number, and general data for the total CO sample., File "tale4.dat" contains the CIG number, and the velocity integrated 12CO(1-0) intensities, line width and central velocities for galaxies newly observed., File "tale5.dat" contains the CIG number and the molecular gas mass for the total CO sample., We characterize the molecular gas content (ISM cold phase) using CO emission of a redshift-limited subsample of isolated galaxies from the AMIGA (Analysis of the interstellar Medium of Isolated GAlaxies) project in order to provide a comparison sample for studies of galaxies in different environments. We present the ^12^CO(1-0) data for 273 AMIGA galaxies, most of them (n=186) from our own observations with the IRAM 30m and the FCRAO 14m telescopes and the rest from the literature. We constructed a redshift-limited sample containing galaxies with 1500km/s

EFFECTS OF STSP6A OVEREXPRESSION AND SILENCING ON POTATO STOLONS

  • Abelenda, José A.
  • Prat, Salomé
For each sample of the two comparisons (35S-StSP6A versus Wild Type and StSP6A-RNAi versus Wild Type) two biological replicates were prepared. In the case of 35S-StSP6A and StSP6A-RNAi each replicate was composed by a pool of several transgenic lines.-- Experiment type: Expression profiling by array., Comparisons (35S-StSP6A versus Wild Type and StSP6A-RNAi versus Wild Type., Summary StSP6A is a protein with sequence homology to the Arabidopsis FLOWERING LOCUS T (FT). FT is a main component of the long range flowering promoting signal or florigen that induces photoperiodic flowering under long days (LDs). In potato, short days (SDs) promote tuber induction, and wild subspecies like Solanum tuberosum ssp andigena (wild type line 7540) are strictly dependent on SDs to tuberize. StSP6A transcription is induced in leaves and stolons at early stages upon transfer to SD inductive conditions, priotr to visible solon swelling. Transgenic andigena lines over-expressing the StSP6A gene under the control of the 35S promoter are able to tuberize under LD non-inductive conditions, whereas silencing of this gene by means of an specific RNAi construct are strongly delayed in tuber induction in SD inductive conditions. This data indicate that StSP6A plays a central role in the control of tuber induction., Peer reviewed

TRANSCRIPTIONAL CHANGES DURING PHOTOPERIODIC TUBER INDUCTION IN SOLANUM TUBEROSUM SSP ANDIGENA

  • Abelenda, José A.
  • Prat, Salomé
All collected stolons (LD; and 2d, 4d, 6d and 8d under SD) were processed as described. Hybridization scheme with a loop design was applied to compare one sample against the rest of the samples in the induction time course.-- Experiment type: Expression profiling by array., Expression profiling analyses of early stages of tuber induction, plants of Solanum tuberosum ssp andigena (7540)., For expression profiling analyses of early stages of tuber induction, plants of Solanum tuberosum ssp andigena (7540) were used. This wild subspecies is strictly dependent on photoperiod for tuberisation, such that short days (SD) inductive conditions are required in order to trigger tuber induction in the stolons. Andigena plants were grown in the greenhouse under LD non-inductive conditions until a 10-leaf stage. They were subsequently transferred to inductive SD conditions (8 h light/16 h dark), and sampled at 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 days after transfer to SDs. Tuber swelling was visible approximately 6-8 days after transfer to inductive conditions. The apical region of the stolons (2 cm) was collected one hour before the beginning of the light period., Peer reviewed

DO WE CHOOSE WHAT WE LOOK AT OR IT'S OUR BRAIN THAT CHOOSES? : A COGNITIVE APPROACH TO THE RELATION BETWEEN VISUAL ATTENTION AND PERCEPTION BASED ON ADVERTISING STIMULI

  • Astals Serés, Anna

This study questions whether, when talking about graphical stimuli (and in particular, advertisements), attention is above the surface of consciousness that leads to a voluntary perception of the existing stimuli; or if attention is an involuntary process so that we perceive a selection of the stimuli our brain has previously chosen. Previous research of Cognitive Psychology based on advertising attention and perception documents that our cognitive response directly depends on the level of attention focused on the existing stimuli. To understand this question, we need to determine the parameters governing our level of attention.

ENGLISH-CATALAN LMF APERTIUM BILINGUAL DICTIONARY

  • Universitat d'Alacant. Grup Transducens
  • Breen, Paul
  • O'Regan, Jimmy
  • Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Institut Universitari de Lingüística Aplicada (IULA)
This is the LMF version of the Apertium bilingual dictionary for English and Catalan languages. Bilingual LMF dictionaries were generated from Apertium bilingual dix files. For each Apertium bilingual correspondence, the corresponding source and target monolingual entries (LexicalEntry) were generated in addition to the bilingual correspondence (SenseAxis) element. Apertium is a free/open-source machine translation platform, initially aimed at related-language pairs but recently expanded to deal with more divergent language pairs (such as English-Catalan). The platform provides: a language-independent machine translation engine; tools to manage the linguistic data necessary to build a machine translation system for a given language pair and linguistic data for a growing number of language pairs.
