RETURN LEVELS OF MEDICANE-INDUCED WAVES AND COASTAL SEA SURFACE ELEVATION FOR 10 AND 100 YEAR RETURN PERIODS

  • Toomey, Tim
  • Amores, Ángel
  • Marcos, Marta
  • Orfila, Alejandro
  • Romero, Romualdo
Each .mat file, contains the following variables: - latitude/longitude: coastal point for the Mediterranean basin and islands within it; Dim = [7784,1] - elev_Rea, Hs_Rea: return levels computed for the present climate; Dim = [7784,1] - elev_Hist, elev_Rcp85, Hs_Hist, Hs_Rcp85: return levels computed for the historical asnd projected climate (from the 20 GCMs model used, see article); Dim = [7784,20], We provide return level data used for the assessement coastal hazards of Medicanes in the upcoming article "Coastal hazards of tropical-like cyclones over the Mediterranean Sea". For both significant wave height at 20m depth and coastal sea surface elevation, return levels are provided at 10 year (RLs_10year.mat) and 100 year (RLs_100year.mat) return periods., RLs_100year.mat; RLs_10year.mat, Peer reviewed

The effects on growth performance of supplementation of four different AA combinations in a milk replacer (MR, 25.4% CP and 20.3% fat) based on skimmed milk powder and whey protein concentrate were evaluated in 76 Holstein male calves (3 ± 1.7 d old). The 4 MR were: CTRL with no AA supplementation; PG supplying additional 0.3% Pro and 0.1% Gly; FY supplying additional 0.2% Phe and 0.2% Tyr; KMT providing additional 0.62% Lys, 0.22% Met, and 0.61% Thr. All calves were fed the same milk allowance program and were weaned at 56 d of study. Concentrate intake was limited to minimize interference of potential differences in solid feed intake among treatments. Animals were weighed weekly, intakes recorded daily, and blood samples obtained at 2, 5, and 7 wk of study to determine serum urea and plasma AA concentrations. The file presents data of calf performance. Data was collected at Torre Marimon IRTA calf facilities (Caldes de Montbui, Spain) during 2017.

TOSCA Cruise (29GD20121025) carried out on the Research Vessel García del Cid in 2012, Tracking oil spills and coastal awareness. The proposed campaign aims to establish the hydrodynamic conditions in the southern area of the Sea Balear with four fundamental objectives: i) validate the 3D fields obtained by a system of operational prediction, ii) validate the algorithms developed to obtain the fields superficial measured by the HF radar of the SOCIB; iii) study with buoy data "in situ"derived from the group requesting turbulent dispersion on the surface and iv) validating the measures and algorithms developed for the periodic, continuous and autonomous sampling carried out in the Ibiza channel a deepwater glidder of the Department of Marine Technologies of the IMEDEA An attached CTD campaign is requested as well as the ADCP

Each file contains significant wave height (Hs), mean wave period (Tm_01) (Tmm_10), mean wave direction (θ_m), latitude, longitude and time for a specific year. Each file in NetCDF format is around 1GB size containing the above data every 6 hours at 00h, 06h, 12h and 18h. Data cover from January, 1^st 1958 to December, 〖31〗^st 2017 on a 229 x101 mesh nodes with a resolution of 11.8 km x 11.4 km. Bottom left corner coordinates are -84.52° W; 8.1° N., AOR is supported by COLCIENCIAS (Departamento Administrativo de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación) through a PhD grant from “Convocatoria 727” and from a POGO fellowship at the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies. Authors acknowledge financial support from the Spanish Government MICINN/FEDER through MOCCA Project (RTI2018-093941-B-C31)., Peer reviewed
