MULTIDIMENSIONAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT OF A LARGE COLLECTION OF BOOKS USING PLUMX: METHODOLOGY, TECHNICAL LIMITATIONS AND INDICATORS ANALYSIS [COMPLEMENTARY MATERIAL TO MANUSCRIPT]

  • Torres Salinas, Daniel
  • Gumpenberger, Christian
  • Gorraiz, Juan
The main purpose of this macro-study is to shed light on the broad impact of books. For this purpose, the impact a very large collection of books (more than 200,000) has been analysed by using PlumX, an analytical tool providing a great number of different metrics provided by various tools. Furthermore, the study focuses on the evolution of the most significant measures and indicators over time. The results show usage counts in comparison to the other metrics are quantitatively predominant. Catalogue holdings and reviews represent a book’s most characteristic measures deriving from its increased level of impact in relation to prior results. Our results also corroborate the long half-life of books within the scope of all metrics, excluding views and social media. Despite of some disadvantages, PlumX has proved to be a very helpful and promising tool for assessing the broad impact of books, especially because of how easy it is to enter the ISBN directly as well as its algorithm to aggregate all the data generated by the different ISBN variations.

Ocean bottom seismometers were provided by the U.S National Oceanographic Instrument Pool. This publication reflects only the authors' views. The European Commission is not responsible for any use that may be made of the information it contains., Deception Island volcano (Antarctica) is one of the most closely monitored and studied volcanoes on the region. In January 2005, a multi-parametric international experiment was conducted that encompassed both Deception Island and its surrounding waters. We performed this experiment from aboard the Spanish oceanographic vessel 'Hesperides', and from five land-based locations on Deception Island (the Spanish scientific Antarctic base 'Gabriel de Castilla' and four temporary camps). This experiment allowed us to record active seismic signals using a large network of seismic stations that were deployed both on land and on the seafloor. In addition, other geophysical data were acquired, including bathymetric high precision multi-beam data, and gravimetric and magnetic profiles. To date, the seismic and bathymetric data have been analysed but the magnetic and gravimetric data have not. We provide P-wave arrival-time picks and seismic tomography results in velocity and attenuation. In this manuscript, we describe the main characteristics of the experiment, the instruments, the data, and the repositories from which data and information can be obtained., MINECO/FEDER TEC2015-68752-R, KNOWAVES, Spanish Education and Research Ministry REN 2001-3833 CGL2005-05789-C02-02/ANT POL2006-08663 CGL2008-01660, National Science Foundation (NSF) ANT-0230094 NSF-1521855, European project MED-SUV - European Union's Seventh Framework Program 308665, European project EPOS, European Union (EU) 676564

This paper will be part of Candido Robles-Sanchez's doctorate, which is being completed as part of the 'Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Program' at the University of Granada, Spain. This work was funded by the company Hero Spain, S. A. (grant #3545 managed by Fundacion General EmpresaUniversidad de Granada) and by CEIBiotic, University of Granada, Spain (grant CEI2013P-11)., We investigated whether the administration of Lactobacillus paracasei CNCM I-4034, Bifidobacterium breve CNCM I-4035 and Lactobacillus rhamnosus CNCM I-4036 modulate the expression of genes in the intestinal mucosa of obese Zucker rats. Forty-eight Zucker-Lepr(fa/fa) and 16 Zucker lean Lepr(+/fa) rats were used. Eight Zucker lean Lepr(+/fa) and 8 Zucker-Lepr(fa/fa) rats were euthanized as a reference. The remaining 40 Zucker-Lepr(fa/fa) rats were then assigned to receive 10(10) colony forming units (CFU) of one of the three probiotic strains, a mixture of L. paracasei CNCM I-4034 and B. breve CNCM I-4035, or a placebo by oral administration for 30 days. An additional group of 8 Zucker lean Lepr(+/fa) rats received the placebo for 30 days. Over 27,000 rat genes were studied using a DNA array. Four animals per group were used. Total RNA was extracted from intestinal mucosa and cDNA was synthesized, fragmented and labeled. Labeled cDNA was hybridized using GeneChip kits, and the latter were scanned. Intensity values of each probe were processed and normalized to obtain an individual value for each set of probes., Company Hero Spain, S. This work is part of Ph.D. thesis by Maria Jose Jimenez-Quesada, and was supported by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) co-funded projects BFU2011-22779, BFU2016-77243-P, RTC-2015-4181-2 and RTC-2016-4824-2 (Spanish MINECO), P2011-CVI-7487 (Junta de Andalucia) and 201540E065 (CSIC)., The data presented here are related to the research article entitled “Generation of nitric oxide by olive (Olea europaea L.) pollen during in vitro germination and assessment of the S-nitroso- and nitro-proteomes by computational predictive methods” doi:10.1016/j.niox.2017.06.005 (Jimenez-Quesada et al., 2017) [1]. Predicted cysteine S-nitrosylation and Tyr-nitration sites in proteins derived from a de novo assembled and annotated pollen transcriptome from olive tree (Olea europaea L.) were obtained after using well-established predictive tools in silico. Predictions were performed using both default and highly restrictive thresholds. Numerous gene products identified with these characteristics are listed here. An experimental validation of the data, consisting in nano-LC-MS (Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) determination of olive pollen proteins after immunoprecipitation with antibodies to anti-S-nitrosoCys and anti-3-NT (NitroTyrosine) allowed identification of numerous proteins subjected to these two post-translational modifications, which are listed here together with information regarding their cross-presence among the predictions., European Union (EU), Spanish MINECO BFU2011-22779 BFU2016-77243-P RTC-2015-4181-2 RTC-2016-4824-2, Junta de Andalucia P2011-CVI-7487, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC) 201540E065

MARITAL SATISFACTION, SEX, AGE, MARRIAGE DURATION, RELIGION, NUMBER OF CHILDREN, ECONOMIC STATUS, EDUCATION, AND COLLECTIVISTIC VALUES: DATA FROM 33 COUNTRIES

  • Sorokowski, Piotr
  • Martínez Gutiérrez, Rocío
This paper was made possible by the funds of Polish National Science Centre (grant number N N106 012740). In Saudi Arabia, the research was funded by the Deanship of Scientific Research at King Saud University, INTRODUCTION Forms of committed relationships, including formal marriage arrangements between men and women, exist in almost every culture (Bell, 1997). Yet, similarly to many other psychological constructs (Henrich et al., 2010), marital satisfaction and its correlates have been investigated almost exclusively in Western countries (e.g., Bradbury et al., 2000). Meanwhile, marital relationships are heavily guided by culturally determined norms, customs, and expectations (for review see Berscheid, 1995; Fiske et al., 1998). While we acknowledge the differences existing both between- and within-cultures, we measured marital satisfaction and several factors that might potentially correlate with it based on self-report data from individuals across 33 countries. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the raw data available for anybody interested in further examining any relations between them and other country-level scores obtained elsewhere. Below, we review the central variables that are likely to be related to marital satisfaction., Polish National Science Centre grant number N N106 012740, Deanship of Scientific Research at King Saud University, The data discussed in this manuscript have been deposited in Figshare repository and is accessible through the following hyperlink: https://figshare.com/s/d2bd33a9605a3a204881 under the name: “Marital, Sex, Age, Marriage Duration, Religion, Number of Children, Economic Status, Education, and Collectivistic Values: Data from 33 Countries.” The deposit contains two files: (1) Marital satisfaction_Data, a xlsx file containing the raw data, and (2) Marital satisfaction_Questionnaire, a doc file containing the questionnaire, along with an exhaustive description of the column labels in the dataset.
