This article presents a 60 years wave hindcast from 1958 to 2017, covering the Colombian Caribbean basin. Each output consists on 6-hour field of significant wave height , mean wave period , and mean direction with a resolution of 11.8 11.4 . The simulation was performed using SWAN model forced with JRA-55 wind fields. Model data is validated against NOAA buoy 42058 located in the central Caribbean. The resolution and time spam of this database allows to perform either coastal engineering projects as well as to perform research in seasonal and interannual wave climate variability including large return periods to evaluate coastal vulnerability., AOR is supported by COLCIENCIAS (Departamento Administrativo de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación) through a PhD grant from “Convocatoria 727” and from a POGO fellowship at the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies. 25 pages, 10 figures, 7 tables.-- This work is distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 License, The Global Ocean Data Analysis Project (GLODAP) is a synthesis effort providing regular compilations of surface-to-bottom ocean biogeochemical bottle data, with an emphasis on seawater inorganic carbon chemistry and related variables determined through chemical analysis of seawater samples. GLODAPv2.2021 is an update of the previous version, GLODAPv2.2020 (Olsen et al., 2020). The major changes are as follows: data from 43 new cruises were added, data coverage was extended until 2020, all data with missing temperatures were removed, and a digital object identifier (DOI) was included for each cruise in the product files. In addition, a number of minor corrections to GLODAPv2.2020 data were performed. GLODAPv2.2021 includes measurements from more than 1.3 million water samples from the global oceans collected on 989 cruises. The data for the 12 GLODAP core variables (salinity, oxygen, nitrate, silicate, phosphate, dissolved inorganic carbon, total alkalinity, pH, CFC-11, CFC-12, CFC-113, and CCl4) have undergone extensive quality control with a focus on
systematic evaluation of bias. The data are available in two formats: (i) as submitted by the data originator but updated to World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE) exchange format and (ii) as a merged data product with adjustments applied to minimize bias. For this annual update, adjustments for the 43 new cruises were derived by comparing those data with the data from the 946 quality controlled cruises in the GLODAPv2.2020 data product using crossover analysis. Comparisons to estimates of nutrients and ocean CO2 chemistry based on empirical algorithms provided additional context for adjustment decisions in this version. The adjustments are intended to remove potential biases from errors related to measurement, calibration, and data handling practices without removing known or likely time trends or variations in the variables evaluated. The compiled and adjusted data product is believed to be consistent with to better than 0.005 in salinity, 1% in oxygen, 2% in nitrate, 2% in silicate, 2% in phosphate, 4 μmolkg-1 in dissolved inorganic carbon, 4 μmolkg-1 in total alkalinity, 0.01–0.02 in pH (depending on region), and 5% in the halogenated transient tracers. The other variables included in the compilation, such as isotopic tracers and discrete CO2 fugacity (fCO2), were not subjected to bias comparison or adjustments., The original data, their documentation, and DOI codes are available at the Ocean Carbon Data System of NOAA NCEI (https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/access/ocean-carbon-data-system/oceans/GLODAPv2_2021/, last access: 7 July 2021). This site also provides access to the merged data product, which is provided as a single global file and as four regional ones – the Arctic, Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific oceans – under https://doi.org/10.25921/ttgq-n825 (Lauvset et al., 2021). These bias-adjusted product files also include significant ancillary and approximated data and can be accessed via https://www.glodap.info (last access: 29 June 2021). These were obtained by interpolation of, or calculation from, measured data. This living data update documents the GLODAPv2.2021 methods and provides a broad overview of the secondary quality control procedures and results, This research has been supported by EU Horizon 2020 through the EuroSea action (grant no. 862626), internal strategic funding from NORCE Climate, Prociencia/UERJ (grant 2019–2021), IEO RADIALES and RADPROF projects, the UK Climate Linked Atlantic Sector Science (CLASS) NERC National Capability Long-term Single Centre Science Programme(grant no. NUEVOS DATOS SOBRE EL ORIGEN Y EMPLAZAMIENTO DE CANATA EN EL VALLE DE COCHABAMBA, BOLIVIA
- Villarías-Robles, Juan J. R.
- Pereira Herrera, David M.
20 páginas, con dos fotografías y un gráfico. El artículo dio a conocer documentación inédita sobre las primeras décadas de administración española en lo que es hoy Bolivia, conservada en el Archivo Histórico Municipal de Cochabamba., [EN] This paper is the first result of a long-term research project aimed at reconstructing the system of land tenure and food procurement in the valley of Cochabamba, Bolivia, under Inca rule; this valley was one of the main sources of agricultural production in the Incan empire, as it would be in the viceroyalty of Peru following the discovery of the Potosí silver mines in 1545. The first objective of the project was to locate Canata, the administrative center in the valley and its vicinity before and after the Spanish conquest up to the founding of the town of Oropesa (present-day city of Cochabamba) in 1571. The location of Canata had been a subject of much debate among Bolivianists since the 19th century. Our research involved analyzing lawsuit files prior to 1571 that are kept in the city council archives as well as doing archaeological surface surveys of the possible areas where material remains of Canata could be found. The result was the identification of the site in Tupuraya, a north-east suburb of the present-day city of Cochabamba, where pre-Inca as well as Inca remains have been found and where colonial-period structures can still be seen.

PROPOSAL OF A LATE ASBIAN (MISSISSIPPIAN) STRATOTYPE FOR ENGLAND: TROWBARROW QUARRY, S. CUMBRIA, UK
- Cózar, Pedro
- Ian D. Somerville
- Mark W. Hounslow
- Tereza Kamenikova
Abstract: A detailed biostratigraphy is established, using the high foraminiferal abundance and diversity at Trowbarrow Quarry, which is also proposed as a stratotype section for the late Asbian (late Viséan), a substage not previously formally subdivided. The foraminiferal assemblages suggest that the early Asbian has to be revised, which has implications for the chronostratigraphy of many late Viséan outcrops in Britain, which are probably erroneously interpreted. From the upper part of the Park Limestone Formation at Trowbarrow Quarry, near the base of the section, the transition between foraminifers assigned to the early and late Asbian (Cf6α-β to Cf6γ subzones) is identified. The Urswick Limestone Formation contains excellent biostratigraphic records of many important taxa, allowing the subdivision of the formation into five foraminiferal assemblage zones for the late Asbian, namely Cf6γ1a, Cf6γ1b, Cf6γ2a, Cf6γ2b and Cf6γ2c. The last assemblage is currently only recognised in the North Pennines and at Trowbarrow. These assemblages allow revision of the stratigraphic range of many taxa used as biostratigraphic markers in Britain and Ireland. Owing to its excellent foraminiferal record, the late Asbian subdivisions will significantly facilitate the reinterpretation of other well-known Asbian platform carbonate successions in Britain. Although with some faunal differences, the base of the late Asbian can be confidently correlated to other European zonal schemes, with its base equivalent to the base of the former V3bγ or more recent MFZ14 foraminiferal zones of Belgium, and the base of the Mikhailovian Substage in Russia., Peer reviewed

LABORATORY GUIDELINES FOR THE DETECTION AND QUANTIFICATION OF PLASTICS PARTICLES FROM FRESHWATER ENVIRONMENTAL SAMPLES
- Margenat, Henar
- Cornejo, Delfina
- Butler Margalef, Michael
- Vila-Gispert, Anna
- Guasch, Helena
The present document develops the laboratory protocols to analyse plastic pollution in freshwater environmental
samples, although the methods followed can be extrapolated to other ecosystems. These protocols are developed
in the framework of the PLASTICØPYR project, which aims to tackle plastic pollution associated with mountain
tourism activities by developing transversal actions involving several stakeholders. These guidelines are
developed in order to quantify plastic pollution in different river habitats, from large items (macro- and
mesoplastics) to tiny plastic particles (microplastics). The protocols are developed for the analysis of
microplastics (MicP) up to 63 µm, from samples from the water column, the fluvial sediments, the fluvial biota
(i.e., brown trout and biofilm), as well as plastic particles present in the atmosphere (either wet or dry
deposition). The MicP analysis is done following the Nile Red method, a fluorescent dye that facilitates the
observation of small particles. Although Nile Red cannot provide chemical characterisation, it can be compatible
with MicP identification techniques, such as FTIR (Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy). The samples
procedure includes: the extraction of MicP from the inorganic matrix by density separation (using ZnCl2), a
digestion step with hydrogen peroxide and catalysed with Fenton's reagent to eliminate the organic remains and
finally, the staining of the sample with Nile Red., Peer reviewed
