LSI FAR INFRARED PEDESTRIAN DATASET

  • Olmeda Reino, Daniel
  • Premebida, Cristiano
  • Nunes, Urbano
  • Armingol Moreno, José María
  • Escalera Hueso, Arturo de la
The database consists of FIR images collected from a vehicle driven in outdoors urban scenarios. Images were acquired with an Indigo Omega imager, with a resolution of 164x129 pixels, a grey-level scale of 14 bits, and focal length of 318 pixels. The camera was mounted on the exterior of the vehicle, to avoid infrared filtering of the windshield. Recorded images were manually annotated, where each pedestrian is labelled as a bounding box. To prevent bias introduced by border artifacts their height is subsequently upscaled by 5%. The pedestrians appear in an up-right position., The dataset is divided in two: (i) Classification dataset: positives and randomly sampled negatives with a fixed height-width ratio of (1/2) and rescaled to 64x32 pixels, and (ii) Detection Dataset: Original positive and negative images with annotations., The classification Database is divided in a Train and a Test subset. The Train set contains 10208 positives and 43390 negatives, while the Test set contains 5944 positives and 22050 negatives. The annotated bounding boxes are resized to a constant aspect ratio (w/h) = 0.5 by changing their width appropriately. Any bounding box below 10 pixels in height is ignored. The remaining bounding boxes are resized to 64x32 pixels using bilinear interpolation. The negative samples were randomly selected from images not containing pedestrians.

TIBIDABO TREEBANK AND IULA SPANISH LSP TREEBANK TRAIN AND TEST PARTITIONS

  • Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Institut Universitari de Lingüística Aplicada (IULA)
  • Marimon, Montserrat
This package contains a partition of the Iula Spanish LSP Treebank into train and test sets to perform Machine Learning experiments. In that way the same partitions can be used by different researchers and their results can be directly compared. In this package we also deliver the Tibidabo Treebank (Marimon 2010) which contains a set of sentences extracted from Ancora corpus annotated in the same way than the Iula Treebank. Tibidabo Treebank is a very good test set for models trained with Iula Spanish LSP Treebank since the sentences that form it from a very different domain than those of the Iula Spanish LSP Treebank.

PANACEA ENGLISH AUTOMATICALLY ACQUIRED LEXICON FOR ENV DOMAIN: SUBCATEGORIZATION FRAMES AND LEXICAL SEMANTIC CLASSES FOR NOUNS

  • University of Cambridge. Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics
  • Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Institut Universitari de Lingüística Aplicada (IULA)
This is a domain-specific lexicon for English for environment (ENV) domain. This lexicon contain both, subcategorization frames for verbs and lexical semantic classes for nouns. This lexicon has been automatically created using PANACEA webservices using crawled data. The crawled data was obtained crawling web pages that were automatically detected to be in the English language and were automatically classified as relevant to the ENV domain. Data collection took place in the summer of 2011.

COOPERATION IS A MUST NOW

  • Casaldàliga, Núria

The Aligning National Approaches to Digital Preservation (ANADP) II Action Assembly will align digital preservation efforts internationally between communities-including national libraries, academic libraries, public libraries, research centers, archives, corporations, and funding agencies. ANADP II will be a highly participatory event in which stakeholders will engage in facilitated discussions and action sessions to produce a set of concrete outcomes for the extended digital preservation community in three areas: Community Alignment, Resource Alignment, and Capacity Alignment. Since then there has been a huge development on working procedures, software improvements, growth on the number of documents, implementation of open access policies, collection of scientific and scholarly production and digitization of heritage fund. Nowadays it is one of the top repositories in Spain. In 2013, DDD has started an evaluation process that aims to contrast and guarantee the stability, security and trustworthiness of the repository. In order to carry out this evaluation two standard tools have been chosen: the National Scheme of Security (ENS) - developed by the Spanish Government for electronic administration purposes- and an internal audit based on ISO 16363:2012. The result will allow us to plan a strategy for the DDD in the coming years. Economic sustainability is an essential part of preservation plans but in order to guarantee the security of the system, cooperation is also a must to establish long and short-term plans. Google can afford making replicas of its contents all over the world, but what about us? Could we if we work cooperatively? The challenge ahead is creating the framework to achieve this goal.
