ELECTROCHEMICAL DEGRADATION OF NAPROXEN BY CARBON PAPER ELECTRODES COATED BY RGO AND PT
NAPROXEN ELECTROOXIDATION USING CARBON PAPER ELECTRODES MODIFIED WITH REDUCED GRAPHENE OXIDE AND PLATINUM NANOPARTICLES

This research study investigates the electrooxidation of naproxen (NPX), an anti-inflammatory pharmaceutical, on modified carbon paper (CP) electrodes. Electrochemical modification of CP electrodes was accomplished with
Pt or reduced graphene oxide (RGO)-Pt coatings, resulting in the production of electroactive electrodes. RGO coatings synthesized by cyclic voltammetry (CV) for 10 scans provided the optimal coverage for the CP electrode
surface. The deposition of Pt nanoparticles (Pt NPs) on the electrodes (CP or CP-RGO) by CV produced a good electrode surface coverage with 20 synthesis scans. The voltammetric analysis of the electrodes in 230 mg/L NPX solution showed oxidation peaks around 1.0 to 1.2 V. Moreover, the inclusion of RGO in the coating led to an increase in the current density of these oxidation peaks and a decrease of the electrode electron transfer resistance as measured by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.
The electrolysis of NPX in different electrolytes (Na2SO4 and Na2SO4/NaCl) was conducted at 1.4 V, and the removal of NPX was analyzed using high-performance liquid chromatography. The CP-RGO-Pt electrode in
Na2SO4/NaCl media showed the fastest NPX degradation kinetics, resulting in a 90 % degradation in only 90 min with low charge consumption (0.07 A⋅h⋅L-1). The smaller size of Pt NPs deposited on CP-RGO, as observed by field emission scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy, contributed to the higher electrochemical response in CV and a faster kinetic degradation of NPX., This research is part of the Spanish R + D + i contract TED2021-130905B-I00 funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and by

EVALUATION OF THE ACOUSTIC PERFORMANCE OF A NOVELTY CATHODIC PROTECTION SYSTEM AGAINST GUITAR STEEL STRINGS CORROSION

This work was conducted to establish the efficiency of an impressed current cathodic protection system for musical instruments’ steel strings in protecting them from corrosion caused by human sweat. To conduct this research, the harmonic content degradation of a guitar string subjected to different corrosion stages by artificial human sweat, with and without cathodic protection by an impressed current, was studied. String corrosion is characterised by not only the electrochemical technique of polarisation resistance, but also by weight loss by gravimetric measurements and FESEM microscopy. From the correlation between the acoustic and electrochemical results, it can be concluded that harmonic content degradation of guitar strings increases corrosion but is less significant in the strings protected by impressed current., Funding for Open Access charge: CRUE-Universitat Politècnica de València is acknowledged.

This dataset is about the experimental results obtained and published in the article by the authors I. Patrao, E. Tor n, R. Gonz lez-Medina, M. Liberos, E. Figueres and G. Garcer , "DC-Bus Signaling Control Laws for the Operation of DC-Microgrids With Renewable Power Sources," in IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Industrial Electronics, vol. 5, no. 3, pp. 1120-1131, July 2024, doi: 10.1109/JESTIE.2023.3345797.
The behaviour of the different agents in a microgrid is managed by using the voltage at each node of the microgrid as the DBS signal. The technique proposed in this paper uses an improved DBS technique to coordinate interlinking converters, photovoltaic generators, Energy Storage Systems and loads in a microgrid. The DBS technique proposed in this paper is adapted to integrate renewable power sources in the microgrid. The DBS-controlled Energy Storage Systems (ESS) will store the surplus energy if the generated power exceeds consumption. In the case of fully charged ESS, the renewable generators will limit their output power to those demanded by the loads. The proposed control laws have been tested in an experimental microgrid.

CARBON TEXTILES ELECTRODES MODIFIED WITH RGO AND PT NANOPARTICLES USED FOR ELECTROCHEMICAL TREATMENT OF AZO DYE [DATASET]

[EN] The efficiency of Orange G (OG) azo dye degradation using an electrochemical method under potentiostatic conditions has been comparatively studied in two electrolytic cells (divided and undivided cells) in the presence or absence of chloride ions with Pt-modified textile electrodes. The morphology of the carbon-based electrodes with nanoparticles of platinum electrochemically dispersed on their surface was analyzed using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and EDX analysis. The FESEM analyses confirmed that the textile surface was coated by Pt nanoparticles. According to the experimental results obtained, when the same solutions are comparatively treated with the two cells, the undivided cell always gives a quicker decolorization than the divided cell – and the decrease in total organic carbon (TOC), chemical oxygen demand (COD), and total nitrogen (TN) confirms this result. The degree of OG removal was monitored by spectroscopic methods and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The results indicate that that full best dye removal is obtained at a loaded charge of around 0.17 Ah L−1 which is associated with an electrical energy per order (EEO) of 0.189 kW h m−3 order−1. Based on the results obtained, the electrochemical process with TCRGO-Pt electrodes could be useful as a pretreatment technique or treatment for decolorizing wastewaters containing dyes., The authors wish to thank the Spanish Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI) and European Union (FEDER funds) for the financial support (contract MAT2016-77742-C2-1-P) and Chemviron Carbon who kindly donated the FlexzorbTM FM10 activated carbon fabrics. The invitation by the E3TECH Spanish Network of Excellence (CTQ2017- 90659-REDT (MEIC/AEI)) is kindly acknowledged.
