1 file.-- This dataset compiles information obtained during the cruise BOCATS 2016, This dataset gathers discrete measurements of CO2 (pH and alkalinity) and hydrographic variables (salinity, temperature, dissolved oxygen, nitrate, phosphate and silicate) obtained during the cruise BOCATS carried out along the OVIDE section from 17 June to 31 July 2016.
pH was measured spectrophotometrically following the Clayton and Byrne (1993). This method consists on adding a dye solution to the seawater sample, so that the ratio between two absorbances at two different wavelengths is proportional to the sample pH.
Alkalinity was measured using an automatic potentiometric titrator Titrando 809 Metrohm, with a Metrohm 6.0232.100 combination glass electrode and a Pt-1000 probe for temperature measurement following the methodology given by Pérez and Fraga (1987).
Dissolved oxygen was analyzed following the widely applied Winkler method.
Determinations of nitrate, phosphate and silicate were carried out following methods described by Hansen and Grassoff (1983)
Salinity and Temperature were recorded with a CTD probe, BOCATS (CTM2013-41048-P), Peer reviewed

Porcine APOA2 gene expression in liver
Data from Analysis of the porcine APOA2 gene expression in liver, polymorphisms identification and association with fatty acid composition traits. Contains SNP genotypes for GWAS and eGWAS studies, mRNA expression of APOA2 in liver, and fatty acid composition in backfat and muscle, APOA2 is a protein implicated in triglyceride, fatty acid and glucose metabolism. In pigs, the APOA2 gene is located on pig chromosome 4 (SSC4) in a QTL region affecting fatty acid composition, fatness and growth traits. In this study, we evaluated APOA2 as a candidate gene for meat quality traits in an Iberian × Landrace backcross population. The APOA2:c.131T>A polymorphism, located in exon 3 of APOA2 and determining a missense mutation, was associated with the percentage of hexadecenoic acid [C16:1(n–9)], linoleic acid [C18:2(n–6)], α-linolenic acid [C18:3(n–3)], dihomo-gamma-linolenic acid [C20:3(n–6)] and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in backfat. Furthermore, this SNP was associated with the global mRNA expression levels of APOA2 in liver and was used as a marker to determine allelic expression imbalance by pyrosequencing. We determined an overexpression of the T allele in heterozygous samples with a mean ratio of 2.8 (T/A), observing a high variability in the allelic expression among individuals. This result suggests that complex regulatory mechanisms, beyond a single polymorphism (e.g. epigenetic effects or multiple cis-acting polymorphisms), may be regulating APOA2 gene expression., Peer reviewed

The dataset contains four files. File S1 corresponds to cathodoluminescence and BSE images of standard minerals. File S2 contains geochemical data of mineral standards ans samples obtained by SIMS and EPMA. File S3 contains the parameters used to obtain response surface models of IMF in mineral standards. File S4 is a response surface methodology tutorial., Instrumental mass fractionation (IMF) of isotopic SIMS analyses (Cameca 1280HR, CRPG Nancy) was predicted by response surface methodology (RSM) for 18O/16O determinations of plagioclase, K-feldspar and quartz. The three predictive response surface models combined instrumental and compositional inputs. The instrumental parameters were: (i) X and Y position, (ii) LT1DefX and LT1DefY electrostatic deflectors, (iii) chamber pressure and, (iv) primary-ion beam intensity. The compositional inputs included: (i) anorthite content (An%) for the plagioclase model and, (ii) orthoclase (Or%) and barium (BaO%) contents for the K-feldspar model. The three models reached high predictive powers. The coefficients R2 and prediction-R2 were, respectively, 90.47% and 86.74% for plagioclase, 87.56% and 83.17% for K-feldspar and 94.29% and 91.59% for quartz. The results show that RSM can be confidently applied to IMF prediction in stable isotope SIMS analyses by the use of instrumental and compositional variables.

Data from the article "O. Rodriguez-Prieto, F. Ortin, D. O'Shea. Efficient Runtime Aspect Weaving for Java Applications. Information and Software Technology (100), pp. 73-86, 2018. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.infsof.2018.03.012", Context: The aspect-oriented paradigm is aimed at solving the code scattering and tangling problem, providing new mechanisms to support better separation of concerns. For specific scenarios where high runtime adaptability is an important requirement, dynamic Aspect-Oriented Programming (AOP) represents a useful tool. With dynamic AOP, components and aspects can be woven and unwoven at runtime, enabling applications greater responsiveness when dealing with different or changing requirements. However, this responsiveness typically incurs a cost in terms of runtime performance and memory consumption.
Objective: Build an efficient dynamic aspect weaver for Java that provides the best runtime performance compared to the existing approaches, minimum memory overhead consumption, and similar functionalities to the widespread runtime weavers.
Method: We design and implement weaveJ, a dynamic aspect weaver for Java. This dynamic weaver leverages the invokedynamic opcode introduced in Java 7, which allows dynamic relinkage of method and field access. We compare the functionalities of weaveJ with the existing dynamic weavers for Java, and evaluate their runtime performance and memory consumption.
Results: weaveJ shows the best runtime performance for all benchmarks and real applications executed. Method interception with invokedynamic is at least 142% faster than the techniques used by the existing runtime weavers. The average cost of dynamic weaving using invokedynamic is only 2.2% for short running programs, and 1.5% for long running applications. Moreover, the use of aspects in weaveJ does not imply additional memory consumption.
Conclusion: The dynamic aspect weaver implemented demonstrates that invokedynamic is a suitable mechanism to provide efficient runtime aspect weaving for Java applications. Moreover, it supports concurrent and programmatic aspect (un)weaving at any point of execution, a wide set of join points, class and object weaving, and allow aspects to have their own state. Neither the Java language nor the virtual machine needs to be modified., This work has been funded by the European Union, through the European Regional Development Funds (ERDF), and the Principality of Asturias, through its Science, Technology and Innovation Plan (Grant GRUPIN14-100). Ocean bottom seismometers were provided by the U.S National Oceanographic Instrument Pool. This publication reflects only the authors' views. The European Commission is not responsible for any use that may be made of the information it contains., Deception Island volcano (Antarctica) is one of the most closely monitored and studied volcanoes on the region. In January 2005, a multi-parametric international experiment was conducted that encompassed both Deception Island and its surrounding waters. We performed this experiment from aboard the Spanish oceanographic vessel 'Hesperides', and from five land-based locations on Deception Island (the Spanish scientific Antarctic base 'Gabriel de Castilla' and four temporary camps). This experiment allowed us to record active seismic signals using a large network of seismic stations that were deployed both on land and on the seafloor. In addition, other geophysical data were acquired, including bathymetric high precision multi-beam data, and gravimetric and magnetic profiles. To date, the seismic and bathymetric data have been analysed but the magnetic and gravimetric data have not. We provide P-wave arrival-time picks and seismic tomography results in velocity and attenuation. In this manuscript, we describe the main characteristics of the experiment, the instruments, the data, and the repositories from which data and information can be obtained., MINECO/FEDER

This work was funded by the company Hero Spain, S. A. (grant #3545 managed by Fundacion General EmpresaUniversidad de Granada) and by CEIBiotic, University of Granada, Spain (grant CEI2013P-11)., We investigated whether the administration of Lactobacillus paracasei CNCM I-4034, Bifidobacterium breve CNCM I-4035 and Lactobacillus rhamnosus CNCM I-4036 modulate the expression of genes in the intestinal mucosa of obese Zucker rats. Forty-eight Zucker-Lepr(fa/fa) and 16 Zucker lean Lepr(+/fa) rats were used. Eight Zucker lean Lepr(+/fa) and 8 Zucker-Lepr(fa/fa) rats were euthanized as a reference. The remaining 40 Zucker-Lepr(fa/fa) rats were then assigned to receive 10(10) colony forming units (CFU) of one of the three probiotic strains, a mixture of L. paracasei CNCM I-4034 and B. breve CNCM I-4035, or a placebo by oral administration for 30 days. An additional group of 8 Zucker lean Lepr(+/fa) rats received the placebo for 30 days. Over 27,000 rat genes were studied using a DNA array. Four animals per group were used. Total RNA was extracted from intestinal mucosa and cDNA was synthesized, fragmented and labeled. Labeled cDNA was hybridized using GeneChip kits, and the latter were scanned. Intensity values of each probe were processed and normalized to obtain an individual value for each set of probes., Company Hero Spain, S. A.
