This dataset is composed of two folders: one for the programing codes of the analytical solution and another one for the input files of the numerical models for simulating the stress variation due to reservoir pressurization or depletion as well as the assessment of fault stability and induced seismicity potential of faults. The folder “AnalyticalSolutionCode_ASISP” includes all the programing modules in Python that are needed for performing the analytical solution for both permeable and impermeable faults. The three subfolders are automatically generated by Python to build the virtual environment for running the codes. The names of the code files and the description of the programing code are: - “All_Parameters”: includes all the needed parameters for reservoir geometry and rock properties - “L0_Surface_Integral”: includes the surface integral of the Green’s function for stress - “L0_Surface_Integral_FaultPlane”: includes the surface integral of the Green’s function for stress on the special fault plane - “L1_Delta_Pressure_Interval”: describes the sub interval of pore pressure change for different cases - “L1_Stress_D”: includes the dimensionless stress variation in the whole domain - “L1_Stress_D_FaultPlane”: includes the dimensionless stress variation on the special fault plane - “L2_CFS”: includes the equations for Coulomb Failure Stress (CFS) - “L2_Stress_transformation_formula”: includes the stress transformation formula with axes rotation - “main1_ContourPlot”: this is the main program for generating the contour plot of stress changes in the whole domain - “main1_SI”: this is the main program for generating the line diagram of stress changes in specific lines - “main2_CFSPlot this is the main program for generating the CFS plot in different cases - “main3_FSPPlot”: this is the main program for generating the plot of fault slip potential in different cases - “myfigure”: includes all the figure styles applied to generate the above plots - “sigma_imp_CB”: the excel file that includes the results exported from the CODE_BRIGHT (CB) for an impermeable fault - “sigma_per_CB”: the excel file that includes the results exported from the CODE_BRIGHT (CB) for a permeable fault - “NOTES”: includes some notes for running the codes. For running the codes, one should start from the main programing codes. The input files of each numerical simulation are included in the folder “CODE_BRIGHT_InputFiles”. The names of the subfolders and the description of the model are: - “C1_InclinedPermeableFault”: simulation of stress variations caused by pore pressure buildup for an inclined permeable fault due to reservoir pressurization - “C2_InclinedImpermeableFault”: simulation of stress variations caused by pore pressure buildup for an inclined impermeable fault due to reservoir pressurization. Each subfolder includes a file with the name of the folder and ended as “_gen.dat” that contains the input data of the model, including material properties, initial and boundary conditions and the time intervals. There is also a file ended as “_gri.dat” that includes the information on the mesh. The “root.dat” includes the name of the model. To run simulations, just execute the Code_Bright executable “Cb_v9_0_1.exe” in the folder that contains the three input files and the executable., This dataset is composed of two folders: one for the programing codes of the analytical solution and another one for the input files of the numerical models for simulating the stress variation due to reservoir pressurization or depletion as well as the assessment of fault stability and induced seismicity potential of faults., Peer reviewed

ASEXUAL REPRODUCTION AND STATOLITHS FORMATION OF COTYLORHIZA TUBERCULATA UNDER PREDICTED FUTURE (2100) TEMPERATURE AND OCEAN ACIDIFICATION CONDITIONS

  • Enrique-Navarro, Angélica
  • Huertas, I. Emma
  • León Cobo, Manuel Jesús
  • Prieto, Laura
The database provides laboratory data obtained from two experiments carried out during 2019 using polyps of the jellyfish Cotylorhiza tuberculata. The experiments considered current and ca. 2100 winter (Experiment 1) and summer (Experiment 2) conditions under the RCP8.5 scenario (IPCC, 2013). Experiment 1 conditions were 18ºC and two pH levels (current: 7.9 and, reduced: 7.7): and experiment 2 conditions were 24ºC and 30ºCand two pH levels (current: 8.0 and reduced: 7.7). The database contains 3 datasets: 1) Survival and asexual reproduction: Data of the survival and asexual reproduction of the polyps collected during the described experimental conditions. This first dataset includes the number of polyps, buds and polyps undergoing budding, and the number of ephyrae released by strobilation of polyps from the different temperature and pCO2 treatments. Each experiment last for 36 days and the number of replicates per treatment was 6 for experiment 1 and 3 for experiment 2. Seawater salinity was 38. AT was determined by potentiometric titration using a Metrohm 794 Titroprocessor and Fixanal (0.5 mol l-1 of HCl) as titrant (Mintrop et al. 2000). pH was measured spectrophotometrically (Clayton and Byrne 1993) using m-cresol purple as indicator, and consequently, values were expressed in total scale. pCO2 was derived from pH, AT nitrate and silicate using CO2SYS software (Lewis and Wallace 1998). 2) Ephyrae Measurements: This dataset includes measurements of the ephyrae released from the mentioned experimental conditions measured under optical microscopy. The total body diameter of the ephyrae (long axis and short axis, BDL and BDW) and the total marginal lappet length and width were measured at 5x magnification. Rhopalia and statocyst (crystal conglomeration) length and width were measured at 40x magnification. 3) Statolith Measurements: Includes the number of statoliths in each rhopalium. For each ephyra, the length (long axis) and width (short axis) of all statoliths in all rhopalia were measured on a computer screen using AxioVisionLE software at 100x magnification. The volume of each statolith was indirectly calculated from measurements of length and width, considering the statolith shape as a hexagonal prism., This data set includes data collected in 2019 from laboratory experiments using polyps of the jellyfish Cotylorhiza tuberculata exposed to current and future seawater pH and temperature conditions. The dataset includes information of the survival and asexual reproduction of polyps under different experimental treatments as well as, data of the measurements of ephyrae and statoliths., This work was funded by the Spanish Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades under grant number CTM2016-75487-R for the project MED2CA. This work is a contribution to the CSIC interdisciplinary thematic platform, WATER:iOS and the Project Agreement "Sistema de Observación y Predicción de Medusas en el Mar Balear” among Govern des Illes Balears, SOCIB and CSIC., The database is composed by 3 datasest: 1) Survival and asexual reproduction 2) Ephyrae Measurements 3) Statolith Measurements, No

The R materials provided in this page include: (1) the reference manual (in either pdf or html) and (2) all the data necessary to run the examples included in the manual ("data.zip"). This data is divided into the different chapters composing the R material and the reference textbook., Functional ecology is the branch of ecology that focuses on various functions that species play in the community or ecosystem in which they occur. The present R material is accompanying the book “Handbook of trait-based ecology: from theory to R tools” (Cambridge University Press) (https://www.cambridge.org/core/books/handbook-of-traitbased-ecology/D79AC6C55CA7D3977AD297ED30A38EF0 ) which offers the main concepts and tools in trait-based ecology, and their tricks, covering different trophic levels and organism types. The book, and this accompanying R material, are designed for students, researchers and practitioners who wish to get a handy synthesis of existing concepts, tools and trends in trait-based ecology, and wish to apply it to their own field of interest. For 9 of the 12 chapters of the book, specific R material is presented here. Exercises specifically designed to be run in R, are included, along with accompanying on-line resources including solutions for exercises and R functions, and updates reflecting current developments in this fast-changing field. This R material includes different type of indices of biodiversity and the typical toolbox for a functional ecologist. Based on more than a decade of teaching experience, the authors developed and improved the way theoretical aspects and analytical tools of trait-based ecology are best explained and introduced to readers., Composing this handbook has been made possible by the support of many institutions, including the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the University of South Bohemia (USB), the Institute of Botany of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IBOT), the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Groningen institute of Evolutionary Life Sciences, the University of Tartu (UT), the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research (WSL) and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ)., Ch1. NATURAL VS. TRAWLING-INDUCED WATER TURBIDITY AND SEDIMENT TRANSPORT VARIABILITY WITHIN THE PALAMÓS CANYON (NW MEDITERRANEAN) [DATASET]

  • White, Martin
  • Paradis Vilar, Sarah
  • Emelianov, Mikhail
Data of hydrographic properties (pressure, temperature, salinity and turbidity) collected by an autonomous hydrographic profiler deployed in the axis of the Palamós Canyon (NW Mediterranean), and near-bottom time series of turbidity and currents. Additionally, data (temperature, salinity and turbidity) collected during an hydrographic CTD transect across the Palamós Canyon's head is also provided, Increases of water turbidity and suspended sediment transport in submarine canyons have been associated with high-energy events such as storms, river floods and dense shelf water cascading (DSWC), and occasionally with bottom trawling along canyon flanks and rims. To assess the variations on the water column turbidity and sediment transport in the Palamós Canyon linked to both natural and trawling-induced processes, an autonomous hydrographic profiler, as well as a near-bottom current meter and a turbidimeter were deployed in the canyon axis (929 m depth) from February to June 2017, covering a trawling closure (February) and trawling activities (March-June). Periods of enhanced water turbidity during the trawling closure were mostly associated with storms and DSWC events, transporting turbid dense waters into the canyon. In absence of such events, the water column displayed low suspended sediment concentrations (~ 0.3 mg L− 1) until the trawling season began, when particulate matter detachments, ranging between > 1 mg L− 1 and 3.8 mg L− 1, were observed at the water depths where the trawling grounds are found. During the trawling closure, high near-bottom suspended sediment fluxes (35–44 g m− 2 s− 1) were sporadically registered at ~  920 m depth associated with a major storm and DSWC event. Smaller but more frequent increases of near-bottom suspended sediment fluxes (0.1–1.4 g m− 2 s− 1) were recorded during trawling activities. Despite these smaller trawling-induced suspended sediment fluxes, 30 days of continuous bottom trawling activity transported a total amount of 40 kg m− 2, of similar magnitude to that generated by a major DSWC event (50 kg m− 2). Since bottom trawling in Palamós Canyon is practiced on a daily basis throughout the year, a much larger contribution of anthropogenically derived water turbidity and suspended sediment transport can be expected, Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad (España) MINECO/CTM2015-65142-R, MINECO/BES-2016-076983; Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades (España): AGAUR/2017/SGR-863, AGAUR/2017/SGR-1241, With the institutional support of the ‘Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence’ accreditation (CEX2019-000928-S), No
