This database that can be used for macro-level analysis of road accidents on interurban roads in Europe. Through the 19 variables it contains, road accidents can be explained using variables related to economic resources invested in roads, traffic, road network, socioeconomic characteristics, legislative measures and meteorology. The database presents data from 1998 up to 2016 from 20 european countries: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom. Crash data were obtained from the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). With reference to the data on economic resources invested in roadways, the database of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), managed by the International Transport Forum (ITF) was used. Moreover, diverse additional sources, mainly the national Transport Ministries of the respective countries were consulted. All the monetary values were converted to constant prices in 2015 using the OECD price index., This database was carried out in the framework of the project “Inversión en carreteras y seguridad vial: un análisis internacional (INCASE)”, financed by: FEDER/Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades–Agencia Estatal de Investigación/Proyecto RTI2018-101770-B-I00, within Spain´s National Program of R+D+i Oriented to Societal Challenges. Moreover, the authors would like to express their gratitude to the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda of Spain (MITMA), and the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure of Germany (BMVI) for providing data for this study.

DATASET THE INFLUENCE OF INTELLIGENCE AND SEX ON INTERPERSONAL SKILLS AND EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONS IN CHILDREN

  • Gómez-Pérez, María del Mar
  • Calero García, María Dolores|||0000-0002-2854-0055
Interpersonal Skills (ISs) and Executive Functions (EFs) are two groups of skills which are extremely relevant for children’s cognitive, social and psychological development. As well as being interrelated, both can be modulated by other variables such as intelligence or sex. Many studies have tried to establish the relationship between them, but no definitive conclusions have been made to date. Therefore, the objective of this study is to explore the relationship between intelligence and sex in children with measures of ISs and EFs. The participants were 121 children between the ages of 7 and 13, divided into two groups: 76 children (52 boys and 24 girls) with average intelligence quotient (IQ) and 45 children (28 boys and 17 girls) with high IQ. All the participants were assessed using ISs, EFs and intelligence measures. The results showed children with high IQ were better at ISs and EFs. Regarding sex, boys of the High IQ group showed better skills than girls in working memory, inhibition and cause attribution in interpersonal conflicts. Finally, the implications for assessing and supporting the gifted population are discussed.

Alginate hydrogels can be used to develop a three-dimensional environment in which various cell types can be grown. Cross-linking the alginate chains using reversible ionic bonds opens up great possibilities for the encapsulation and subsequent release of cells or drugs. However, al-ginate also has a drawback in that its structure is not very stable in a culture medium with cellu-lar activity. This work explored the stability of alginate microspheres functionalised by grafting specific biomolecules onto their surface to form microgels in which biomimetic microspheres surrounded the cells in the culture, reproducing the natural microenvironment. A study was made of the stability of the microgel in different typical culture media and the formation of polyelectrolyte multilayers containing polylysine and heparin. Multiple myeloma cell prolifer-ation in the culture was tested in a bioreactor under gentle agitation., The Microscopy Service of the UPV (Universitat Politècnica de València) is gratefully acknowl-edged for helping with cryoFESEM characterisation. PROTEIN-FUNCTIONALIZED MICROGEL FOR MULTIPLE MYELOMA CELLS’ 3D CULTURE

Multiple myeloma is a hematologic neoplasm caused by an uncontrolled clonal proliferation of neoplastic plasma cells (nPCs) in the bone marrow. The development and survival of this disease is tightly related to the bone marrow environment. Proliferation and viability of nPCs depend on their interaction with the stromal cells and the extracellular matrix components, which also influences the appearance of drug resistance. Recapitulating these interactions in an in vitro culture requires 3D environments that incorporate the biomolecules of interest. In this work, we studied the proliferation and viability of three multiple myeloma cell lines in a microgel consisting of biostable microspheres with fibronectin (FN) on their surfaces. We also showed that the interaction of the RPMI8226 cell line with FN induced cell arrest in the G0/G1 cell cycle phase. RPMI8226 cells developed a significant resistance to dexamethasone, which was reduced when they were treated with dexamethasone and bortezomib in combination., CIBER-BBN is an initiative funded by the VI National R&D&I Plan 2008–2011, Iniciativa Ingenio 2010, and Consolider Program. CIBER Actions were financed by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III, with assistance from the European Regional Development Fund. The kind supplying of RPMI 8226 cells by Beatriz Martin (Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute) is greatly acknowledged. The Microscopy Service of the UPV (Universitat Politècnica de València) is gratefully acknowledged.
