The samples were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) using a Rigaku D-system using Cu Kα1,2 wavelengths and an angular range of 6º ≤ 2θ ≤ 135º at room temperature. Neutron powder diffraction (NPD) measurements were performed at the high-flux reactor of the ILL (Grenoble, France) using the high-intensity powder diffractometer D1B with a detector angular range coverage 5º ≤ 2θ ≤ 128º. A wavelength of λ ≈ 2.52Å was used in a temperature range between 2 K and 150 K. Magnetic measurements were carried out between 5 and 400 K by using a commercial superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometer from Quantum Design. The measurements were performed warming the sample after zero-field cooling at an external magnetic field of 1 kOe. Isothermal magnetization measurements at selected temperatures between 5 and 250 K were performed for externals fields between -50 and 50 kOe. Mn-L2,3 (630−670 eV) edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) measurements were performed at the at the HECTOR cryomagnet end station in the BL29 BOREAS beamline of the ALBA synchrotron radiation facility (Barcelona, Spain). The photon flux was about 10^12 ph/s with an energy resolution of ∼50 meV. Sintered pellets were used for the XAS measurements, which were also cleaved in situ under ultrahigh vacuum conditions (∼10^−9 mbar) to obtain clean sample surfaces. Measurements were recorded in total electron yield mode (i.e. drain current detection) at 300 K. Mn K-edge XAS measurements at room temperature were performed at the BM23 beamline at the ESRF (Grenoble, France). The spectra were collected in fluorescence mode geometry by using a multi-element silicon drift detector. A Mn foil was measured for energy calibration., We here explore a route to induce a ferromagnetic ground state on the Ruddlesden-Popper phases Sr3-xLaxSn2-xMnxO7 replacing Sn by Mn up to x=1.25. Ferroelectric-paraelectric transitions above room temperature are found in the low Mn-content samples (x≤0.1), with polar space group A21am. For higher Mn concentrations (x ≥ 0.25) the samples are paraelectric and adopt the centrosymmetric space group Amam due to the suppression of specific rotational modes. X-ray absorption spectroscopy confirmed the presence of a Mn3+ ion in all samples though it is not Jahn-Teller distorted. An average regular MnO6 octahedral local structure is reported instead, with Debye-Waller factors for the Mn-O bond length increasing as Mn content does, due to the disorder induced in the Sn/Mn sublattice and the rising of rumpling distortions (expansion of the perovskite bilayer coupled with shrinkage of the rock salt layer). All the Sr3-xLaxSn2-xMnxO7 samples exhibit ferromagnetic correlations. While Mn³⁺ cations in low Mn-content samples (x ≤ 0.25) agree with spin-only contributions, higher doping levels deviate from this interpretation, possibly due to the enhancement of magnetic interactions. At 5 K, all samples exhibit spontaneous magnetization which increases with Mn content, but the Mn³⁺ magnetic sublattice is not fully polarized. Neutron diffraction confirmed the absence of long-range magnetic order and AC susceptibility analysis indicates a glassy magnetic state due to structural disorder and competing interactions. Compared to simple perovskites, our results indicate that the rock salt layer plays a key role in suppressing long-range ferromagnetic order, making it particularly challenging to achieve multiferroic behavior by doping hybrid improper ferroelectrics with magnetic cations., Financial support from PID2021-124734OB-C21 and -C22 together with grant CEX2023-001286-S funded by MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and, as appropriate, by “ERDF A way of making Europe”, and Diputación General de Aragón (projects E11-23R and E12-23R). The dataset contains information on consumers linked to farmers’ markets and consumer groups in two metropolitan areas in Southern Europe: the polycentric metropolitan system of Florence-Prato-Pisa, in central-western Tuscany (Italy), and the Community of Madrid (Spain). It brings together territorial, economic, attitudinal, behavioral, and sociodemographic variables, allowing for the analysis of both consumer profiles and their relationships with sustainable food consumption. The main fields include region, type of initiative, average spending on purchases, the proportion of organic and/or local products in consumption, perceived barriers to accessing these foods, variables related to activism, food values, and responsible consumption practices—including waste separation, avoiding excessive consumption, seeking product information, and choosing more sustainable purchasing options. Finally, it includes sociodemographic variables such as gender, age, ZIP code, educational level, occupation, household composition, and average gross income., This publication is framed within the research grant “Sustainable food networks as chains of values for agroecological and food transition: Implications for territorial public policies” (PID2020-112980GB-C22; 2021-2025), funded by the Spanish Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research Plan: MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033., Peer reviewed

Neutron powder diffraction measurements were performed at the high-flux reactor of the ILL (Grenoble, France) using the high-intensity powder diffractometer D1B with a detector angular range coverage 2º ≤ 2θ ≤ 128º. A wavelength of λ ≈ 2.52Å was used for the determination of the low-temperature magnetic structure in a temperature range between 2 K and 150 K.Magnetic measurements were carried out between 5 and 400 K by using a commercial superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometer from Quantum Design. The measurements were performed warming the sample after zero-field cooling at an external magnetic field of 1 kOe. Isothermal magnetization measurements at selected temperatures between 5 and 250 K were performed for externals fields between -50 and 50 kOe. The relative dielectric permittivity was derived from measurements with an impedance analyzer (Wayne Kerr Electronics 6500B), applying sinusoidal excitations of 1 V amplitude at 900 kHz. Temperature dependent measurements were conducted in homemade sample insert in either a tubular furnace (above room temperature) or an Oxford Instruments cryostat (from 120 K up to 400 K), with 1 K/minute heating ramps. The polarization versus electric field (𝑃-𝐸) hysteresis loops were collected at room temperature in silicon oil, using a 500 V-built-in ferroelectric tester (Precision Premier II, Radiant Technologies) jointly with a high voltage amplifier (610E, Trek). Excitation signals with frequency of either 100 or 250 Hz and maximum electric (E) field amplitude of 125 kV/cm were applied., We examine the effect of Fe and Cr substitutions at the Sn site on the magnetic properties of the hybrid improper ferroelectric Sr3Sn2O7. Upon co-doping with La to preserve the electric charge balance in the unit cell, the Sr3-xLaxSn2-xCrxO7, Sr3-xLaxSn2-xFexO7 and Sr2LaSnFe1-yCryO7 series can be obtained as single phases up to x=1 and for all y values. The unit cell volume is isotropically reduced with doping, so that the orthorhombic structure is preserved. However, these substitutions strongly destabilize the ferroelectric order by decreasing the transition temperature, Tc, below room temperature for x≥0.25. La/Cr co-doping is unable to induce long-range magnetic and compositions from this series behave as conventional paramagnetic compounds; although for high doping concentration (x≥0.5), the significant deviations from the Curie law at low temperatures suggest the onset of antiferromagnetic correlations. In the case of La/Fe co-doping, all samples show strong antiferromagnetic correlations, but a spin glass-like behavior is observed for x≈1 compounds. Finally, no long-range magnetic ordering is observed in La/Cr-Fe co-doped samples. but at the same time an increase in spontaneous magnetization is seen at low temperature, which is associated with the presence of competitive magnetic interactions, in particular the Fe-O-Cr superexchange ferromagnetic interaction. The lack of long-range magnetic order in the investigated series of Cr/Fe-doped Sr3Sn2O7, indicates that the critical concentration of magnetic atoms necessary to overcome the magnetic percolation threshold exceeds the 50% in magnetic cations in these bilayered Ruddlesden-Popper perovskites., Financial support from MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033/FEDER, UE (PID2021-124734OB-C21, CEX2023-001286-S) and Diputación General de Aragón (E11-23R, E12-23R). EFFECTS OF DOPING WITH MAGNETIC CATIONS ON THE HYBRID IMPROPER FERROELECTRICITY IN SR3SN2O7 [DATASET]

The samples were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) using a Rigaku D/MAX 2500-system and Cu Kα1,2 wavelengths.Magnetic measurements were carried out between 5 and 320 K by using a commercial Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID, Quantum Design). Electrical properties measurements were conducted on sintered disc-shaped samples, with typical dimensions of 8 mm diameter and thicknesses from 0.2 to 0.7 mm. Electrodes were made with silver paste in sandwich geometry. Temperature dependent measurements were conducted in a homemade sample insert placed inside a tubular furnace. Both heating and cooling ramps with a typical velocity value of 1 K/minute were applied. The polarization versus electric field (𝑃-𝐸) hysteresis loops were collected at room temperature in silicon oil, using a 500 V-built-in ferroelectric tester jointly with a high voltage amplifier., We here report the structural, magnetic and electrical properties of Sr2.9La0.1Sn1.9M0.1O7 (M= Cr, Mn or Fe) compounds. This La/M co-doping of the hybrid improper ferroelectric Sr3Sn2O7, allows introducing magnetic cations into the perovskite layers of this Ruddlesden-Popper phase. The doping induces minor structural changes, preserving the polar structure with space group A21am of the undoped compound. The perovskite tolerance factor of all doped samples is lower than in Sr3Sn2O7, which preserves larger tilts and rotations of SnO6 octahedra. Doped samples exhibit a paramagnetic behavior down to 5 K and obey the Curie-Weiss law above 200 K. The effective paramagnetic moments agree with the expected spin-only values of the respective magnetic M3+ cations. All samples show a ferroelectric hysteresis loop at room temperature, but the doped samples show larger coercive fields. Additionally, the doping with magnetic cations has important effects on the dielectric properties: a strong decrease of the temperature of the ferroelectric transition together with a smoothing of the anomaly in the dielectric permittivity. These results suggest that the disorder produced by the two aliovalent substitutions is detrimental for the ferroelectric properties due to point charge defects but, at the same time, the prevalence of the structural distortion (tilts and rotations) preserves the ferroelectricity in the investigated doping regime., Financial support from PID2021-124734OB-C21 funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and, as appropriate, by “ERDF A way of making Europe”, and from Gobierno de Aragón (Project E12-23R)., No

DISCLOSING THE MAGNETIC GROUND STATE OF PRBAMN2O6 [DATASET]

Single-crystal neutron diffraction data were collected on the high resolution four-circle diffractometer D9 at the ILL (Grenoble, France) using the wavelength of 0.832(1) Å obtained by reflection from a Cu (220) monochromator. A small two-dimensional (2D) area detector of 6 × 6 cm (32 × 32 pixels) allows reciprocal space survey and optimization of the peak position., Magnetic measurements on powder samples were carried out between 5 and 400 K by using a commercial superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) and a Physical Properties Measuring System (PPMS) from Quantum Design. The measurements were performed warming the sample after zero-field cooling at an external magnetic field of 1 kOe and then cooling in the same field. Isothermal magnetization measurements at 5 and 283 K (heating run) were performed for externals fields between -50 and 50 kOe., We here report a neutron diffraction study on a single crystal of the layered PrBaMn2O6 perovskite. This compound undergoes two consecutive magnetic transitions with decreasing temperature. At TC ≈ 309 K, a long-range ferromagnetic ordering is established with the Mn magnetic moments oriented along the c-axis. Below TN ≈ 240 K, a spin reorientation gives rise to a sudden decrease of the magnetization and the formation of an antiferromagnetic order. This magnetic transition is also accompanied by an electronic localization caused by a structural phase transition from a high temperature tetragonal phase (P4/mmm) into a low temperature orthorhombic one (P21am). Our neutron diffraction study at 12 K has unambiguously identified that the ground magnetic structure for this compound is a layered antiferromagnetic structure along the c-axis with the Mn moments oriented in the ab-plane along one diagonal of the primitive tetragonal cell. No sign of magnetic scattering associated to a CE-type magnetic structure was found in our study, discarding its occurrence in this compound. This result excludes the occurrence of a charge order transition to account for the electronic localization and it is fully consistent with previous structural studies showing a unique crystallographic site for Mn atom in the low temperature phase. A symmetry analysis was carried out to identify the magnetic space group of the ferromagnetic order above TN and the two possible groups for the antiferromagnetic ordering below TN., Financial support from PID2021-124734OB-C21 and RTI2018-098537-B-C22 funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and, as appropriate, by “ERDF A way of making Europe”, and “Severo Ochoa” Programme for Centres of Excellence in R&D (CEX2023-001282-S and CEX2023-001263-S); and from Gobierno de Aragón (Project E12-23R).
